Day 3: ISPE Drug Shortages Prevention Plan and Quality Metrics
Day 3 of the 2014 Annual Meeting will feature two in groundbreaking initiatives Drug Shortages and Quality Metrics. The ISPE Drug Shortages Prevention Plan which will be officially released this afternoon. The Plan was developed by the ISPE Drug Shortages Task Team, building upon ISPE’s landmark 2013 study on drug shortages. The Plan lays out how industry can best prevent drug shortages from occurring to help ensure a robust, resilient and reliable supply of necessary and life-saving medications to patients worldwide.
Additionally, the ISPE Quality Metrics session will provide a comprehensive update of quality metrics programs designed to support the FDA initiative, as required by FDASIA. FDA has been invited to give the status of their thinking and perspective on quality metrics. The ISPE Quality Metrics project team will provide the latest information on the status of the ISPE Quality Metrics pilot program launched in June of this year.
The Quality Metrics session will kick off at 13.30 and has been moved to Neapolitan 1-3. This session will provide a comprehensive update of quality metrics programs designed to support the FDA initiative required by FDASIA. FDA has been invited to give the status of their thinking and perspective on quality metrics. Speakers have been invited to provide an update on other complementary quality metrics programs such as the PDA survey on quality culture and the Xavier University quality metrics program.
