Learn about Bioprocessing, Biotechnology at ISPE / SBP Institute

Thursday, February 8th, 2007

Need to learn more about bioprocessing and biotechnology? The 5th Annual Bioprocessing Institute, sponsored by both ISPE (The International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering) and the Society of Bioprocessing Professionals (SBP), can give you the tools that you need and allow you to learn from and share insights with 60 bioprocessing professionals.

Participants can choose from nine courses with workshops, lectures, case studies, problem-solving sessions, hands-on learning, exhibits, and a plant tour, held 21-25 May 2007 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and feature both introductory and advanced courses directly applicable to biomanufacturing.

In addition, a Bioprocessing Overview will give an good solid foundation for managers, of technical, manufacturing and support groups new to biotechnology.

“These courses provide the opportunity to learn from people who have been directly involved in the application of the bioprocessing principles in the development design and operation of biomanufacturing plants,” said Roger Brunkow, President of SBP and co-chairman of ISPE’s Biotechnology Community of Practice.

Information such as process and facility development, cell culture, separation technologies, purification, and processing scale-up, will be presented at a basic application level and in advanced workshops that build the understanding of problem solving behind the applications of scale-up and process development.

Benefits of attending this intensive Institute include: • Participation in small teams • Problem solving workshops • Teams compare and contrast the different approaches used • Cross functional teams to solve problems and apply knowledge • Case studies and panel discussions • Knowledge can be immediately applied in workshops • Workshop-focused approach where teams will develop a design package and funding requests.
